TOKYO / PRACTICE TOGETHER

Your next ball, in Tokyo.
Tennis practice & lessons

For beginner and intermediate players who want to hit with more confidence. We work on it together, in Japanese.
Play with passion. Grow with purpose. Start your next practice with David Liu.

Dates and courts vary by event. If no current session is listed, you’re welcome to email me.

WHAT WE PRACTICE

One part of your game at a time.

Through group practice and hitting, we work on technique, footwork and preparation for real play. Check each listing for the level and session plan.

01 / STROKES

Forehand & backhand foundations

Practise preparation, contact and a complete follow-through. Try the ideas you’ve seen in the videos against a real ball.

02 / FOOTWORK

Your feet, before and after contact

Approaching the ball, making small adjustment steps and recovering after contact. Connect your footwork with your racket movement.

03 / RALLY

Time to hit with others

Put what you’ve practised into hitting and continuous play. Choose a session that suits your pace and goals.

YOUR COACH

Your coach is still learning, too.

David Liu began tennis at 13 and reached the Ontario Tennis Association (OTA) U18 boys’ singles top 10 in August 2006. He earned a tennis-coaching qualification from Tennis Canada in 2005 and is currently an official Tennisbear ambassador.

I share my own practice and challenges on YouTube. Let’s enjoy the process of improving, as well as the shots that come together.

HOW TO JOIN

Your first session, in three steps.

  1. Check the date, court and level

Browse Tennisbear for a session at a court you can reach and a level that suits you.

  2. Book through the event listing

Check the fee, cancellation terms, what to bring and where to meet before booking. Ask ahead if anything is unclear.

  3. Bring a goal to the court

Decide what you’d like to practise and work on it one ball at a time. Watching a practice video can help you picture the session.

BEFORE YOUR FIRST SESSION

Questions before you join

Can beginners join?

I support beginner and intermediate players, but the level varies by session. Check the listing. If you’ve never held a racket or aren’t sure of your level, email me about your experience and what you’d like to practise.

Which courts in Tokyo do you use?

The venue depends on court availability and the individual event. Tennisbear has the latest location, directions and meeting details.

Can I sign up on my own?

Book through Tennisbear when the session requirements and available spaces suit you. If you’re unsure which session to choose, tell me your current level and what you’d like to practise.

Are the price and group size always the same?

The usual guide is 2 hours, about ¥1,000 per person, with up to 8 players. The actual fee, duration, capacity, cancellation and rain policies are set by each event listing.

Will there be filming or YouTube uploads?

We use video to review practice. Check the event listing for filming and publication arrangements. If you have preferences or concerns about filming, please ask before booking.

Can I ask about lessons or hitting sessions?

Yes—email me with your preferred area and times, current level and what you’d like to work on. I’ll confirm what dates and arrangements are possible.
